I’m not going to lie. While I love running, I’ve always been a bit of a prima donna or should we just say, a wuss, when it came to running in any environment that was not a “perfect” temperature and climate or required me to have to think about gear. If it wasn’t 60-75 degrees and sunny or on a treadmill, it wasn’t happening.
I finally realized that this was a bit ridiculous and was greatly missing out on the joy and benefits of running. I decided to cut the crap and figure out what the F I needed to get my ass in gear. Here are the 5 outdoor running gear essentials that got my ass on the streets and feeling great!
Outdoor Running Essentials For Brisk Weather

5. Aaptiv: I’m obsessed with the Aaptiv app for running. You can choose runs by music genre (hip hop, dance, throwbacks, etc), fitness level (beginner, advanced, etc) , style (intervals, marathon training) or duration (10 minutes, 30 mins, etc).
You then have a running coach that literally coaching you, prompting you and encouraging you throughout the workout at the respective inflection points – “pick up the pace”, “take it to a walk”, “you got this”, etc. The best part is, the music intensity and beats are directly correlated to the place of the work out – it beats pick up in intensity when you’re pace and heart rate is, making it feel perfectly aligned with your mood and with what you need in that moment! It’s truly incredible!
Also, you never feel like you’re alone when you’re running. It’s literally only $9.99/month & even less if you buy the annual subscription.
They also have programs and challenges you can join to keep you on track and motivated with others.
Addtionally, they also have stretching, meditation, cycling, yoga, pilates, strength training and more!

It’s not one of those sup snug ones that you feel like is going to be super uncomfortable + unflattering though. It actually hides most imperfections while also keeping you super comfy! It keeps you super warm + toasty, but it’s breathable + moisture wicking material does not make you sweat or hot! I’m obsessed!
9. Under Armour Women’s Base 4.0 Crew Neck. This is is for even colder temperatures than the one above + meant for skiiing. It’s a bit of a looser fit on me and a bit thicker but keeps you even warmer!
